The Haunting of Black River Forest by Jaydeep Shah
The Haunting of Black River Forest by Jaydeep Shah

The Haunting of Black River Forest by Jaydeep Shah

If you enjoy slasher movies such as Scream, Halloween or Chainsaw Massacre, The Haunting of Black River Forest will be a perfect read for you and it is short. I read it in an evening. Even so, the short story is packed with fright! Terrifying, bone chilling and bloody gross. With all of that, there is an emotional adrenaline that finally breathes life into the protagonist.

The Witch of Rathborne Castle by Virginia Barlow

The Witch of Rathborne Castle by Virginia Barlow

A historical charm of a time and place long ago. The heroine here is strong willed, determined to carry on alone and finds it difficult to believe in or trust the goodness of anyone. Jane's past keeps her cold and frigid. Even before things heat up, there is a certain dark but romantic feel in everything about the telling of this story. The romance has a slow build and slow burn without dominating the tale. Lady Jane is the star and that point is never forgotten through the tribulations that has led up to her being mistaken for ugly and old. From a mystery of who is really who, to the paranormal romance vibe all in a dreary gothic castle. Absolutely beautiful!
