The Tarot, a visual archetypical language that makes up all of life is a complete system of guidance and exploration of the evolutionary journey…
By Karen La Puma
I am so excited to be part of the tour for Awaken to Tarot by Karen La Puma! I’ve been reading the Tarot for years and still consider myself a novice or newbie to the whole thing. Tarot is something that has completely fascinated me and left me with questions. Books like Awaken to Tarot are a great help while trying to decipher the messages that the cards may hold and get closer to the answers.
There are several different decks on my book shelf. The deck that I used while reading Awaken to Tarot is the Golden Universal Tarot based on traditional Rider-Waite images.
In my opinion the Tarot is not a dark or evil tool. Some cards may at first seem really intimidating or frightening such as the devil, death or tower. What I have come to understand and what is also explained more eloquently in Awaken to Tarot, the cards are not meant to terrify but to inspire and awaken the reader to possible changes in their current course. There are always options in life and it is not the cards that decide which option is taken.
Karen La Puma has designed a tarot deck that goes with the book Awaken to Tarot. Inside the book each card is pictured in full color with a complete description, planet and astrological sign alignment. There are pages of information for each card, not just a quick paragraph. The author ask questions with each card, giving the reader inspiration when doing a draw or spread. The great thing is, if the reader does not have a set of Awaken To Tarot cards, this information can apply to any tarot deck on hand. That aspect alone makes this a must have for anyone that works with Tarot and the metaphysical.
Although I do not have a set of the Awaken to Tarot cards, I can easily tell by viewing them that they are beautiful. Each card is filled with vivid bright colors and the art is exquisite. There is something very jubilating about looking at incredible artwork that brings light into a reading.
Awaken To Tarot cards are set up with the ten pip cards from Ace to ten and the four face cards Knights, Queens, Princes and Princesses making a suit. The four suits are Swords, Cups, Wands and Disks. In other decks names might be changed to represent each of these cards. Some of the decks I have used Coins in place of Disks, or Knives in place of Swords. Most cards I’ve used the face cards are King, Queen, Knight, Page. Every deck is unique in it’s design.
The author writes with an angelic tone that does not threaten or demean anyone’s beliefs or religion. In fact, Karen provides pages of information for the reader to find a sense of self empowerment to listening and finding the answers that are locked in our unconscious mind. The information provided gives the reader tools, what ever their beliefs may be or however they personally use the Tarot.
Awaken To Tarot is full of valuable information and I feel blessed to have it in my possession to refer to as often as I like when I am doing a tarot reading for myself. I am certain I will go to this book over and over again for inspiration and guidance while working with the Tarot. I want to thank Karen La Puma and Pump Up Your Books for including me in this book tour for Awaken To Tarot.
